When PJ say’s he will never forget 9/11 or the lives lost, this cat MEANS it! PJ along with the Punishers LE MC, set out to put on a memorial ride like none other. This was the second year of for the run. Only the second year and these guys were able to get over 1,000 bikes to show….that is impressive!!!! So on Sunday 9/10, my wife and I headed over to the Resorts casino in Queens which was the meeting place. We rolled in bout noon for kickstands up at 1 and this place was jamming!! $30 + $10 for a passenger got you on the ride – they even gave you a really well done 9/11 challenge coin for participating. There were vendors, food trucks, a stage for a kick off ceremony and a sea of bikes. These guys knew the drill because it was well organized. After a few speeches and thank-you’s 1pm rolled up and we were off! The ride was full police escort so no lights or stops for us!! Heck the guys even supplied the painters tape to cover your plate so the red light cams didn’t get ya!!!! They thought of it all!!!!
Riding through Queens they streets had a few folks out there waving flags and showing support. I was really great to see particularly with all the shit going on in this world today. The best part for me was rolling out of the covered roadway by the battery and onto the West side highway past the Freedom Tower. There were tourists everywhere and for the most part loved seeing us roll by …cameras were rolling, flags were flying, kids were clapping…it’s gotta make you feel good!!! The ride continued through Manhattan and ended up at the Indian Larry Shop in beautiful Brooklyn NY. As the bikes rolled onto the block the Indian Larry crew had burgers, hot dogs and beer for sale. The vendors and set up again, the DJ was spinning tunes and the party was on!
We split about 5:30 and even though the crowd thinned, it was still going on. What an amazing day for the right reason….NEVER FORGET. This ride is a big deal and I only wish these guys the best in making bigger every year. Folks came from out of state and all over the tristate area. If you can swing it next year you should, it 100% worth it.
NEVER FORGET 9/11
